Evasive action – What’s the most significat secret you’ve ever kept? Did the truth come out?

May 15, 2013

If I told all of you the most significant secret I have ever kept, it would no longer be a secret now would it? The truth never came out because I kept the secret and will continue to do so. I believe in keeping the confidential bond between two friends. Revealing secrets is a form of gossip. It is a reflection on your personality and breaks the confidence people have in you to be able to come to you when they need to reveal their secrets to someone they can trust. If you turn around and tell someone else, even if you trust that person, it has severed no purpose except to get a reaction out of someone who is likely going to do the same thing. If they don’t, they are a better person then you are. There is an exception to this rule, if the person says they are going to hurt someone or hurt themselves but for the most part people who are planning something like that are not going to tell someone. If they do it is a cry for help. Bottom line, keeping someone’s secret is a noble thing to do, repeat it is just tacky.
